This quarter, our team here at Lightpoint Insurance has decided to raise support for the wonderful local non-profit Puppies Behind Bars (PBB). When we first heard about their work, mission, and impact, we couldn’t help but feel excited to give them the spotlight in our quarterly Community Cause campaign!
Puppies Behind Bars helps people in so many ways because of the way they operate. You see, their goal is to train puppies to become certified service, assistance, or companion animals to people living with illnesses or disabilities, as well as to local departments such as police and first responders. What’s most unique about their program is the fact that they count on the help of people who are incarcerated for the training, as well as volunteers.
In our book, that’s what we call a win-win-win for everyone! PBB has successfully delivered the best working dogs in the country year after year, not to mention the fact that the training process is also a therapeutic experience for those living behind bars. The program has helped many prisoners regain their sense of belonging and purpose, as well as providing them with useful life skills that help others.
